Custom Quilting - If you have something special in mind e.g. separate border, sashing or block designs, free-hand quilting or in-the-ditch quilting, we would need to see your quilt and discuss the design before quoting a price. It is a good idea to contact us first to check that there will be someone here to give you a quote. Please note that seams need to be pressed consistently to one side for in-the-ditch quilting.

Basting only - If you prefer to hand quilt, but find layering and basting tedious or difficult, we can still help. Our basting service gives you a perfectly layered quilt with a grid of easily removable stitches.

Quilt Backing - The backing fabric that you supply needs to be good quality cotton. It can be pieced or plain and must be at least 4" larger than the quilt top on all sides. If you prefer, we can supply extra wide backing fabric (108") in a variety of prints (average price £15.95 per metre).

Preparation of your quilt for machine quilting or basting
The quilt top should have all loose threads removed.
The top and the backing (if supplied) should have any seams pressed.
The backing should have straight sides and square corners even if the quilt top has shaped edges or rounded corners.
Please contact us before bringing your quilt in so that we can advise you of the length of the waiting list.

Threads - All prices include threads. For quilting we generally use YLI Machine Quilting Thread or Superior Cotton Quilting Thread. Both are good quality 100% long staple mercerised Egyptian cotton. There is a good range of colours including some beautiful variegated ones. For basting, a lightweight cotton thread is used.

Wadding - Like the backing, the wadding must be at least 4" larger than the quilt top on all sides. We offer a choice of good quality wadding in a variety of widths. These include Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 (80% cotton and 20% polyester), Warm & White (100% cotton, needle-punched), Hobbs Polydown (polyester), Bamboo and Wool in various widths. Prices range from £7.95 to £19.95 per metre.

Binding - You may wish to bind your own quilt but if you prefer we can do this for you. We offer a double fold continuous binding with mitred corners. This is machine stitched to the top of the quilt and either hand finished by us or supplied ready for you to slip stitch to the back.

Postage - If you need to post your quilt top to us, remember to insure it. We can return completed quilts by post. Postage and packaging charge will include insurance.

Payment - We accept payment by credit card, debit card, cheque or cash. A deposit of 25% is required at time of booking. The balance is due on completion of the quilt.
